BarmaLjova Pad

After only a day of apartment-hunting, we saw this magical flat in the heart of the Jewish Quarter. The whimsical paint on the walls, bright tall ceilings, Ikea furniture, green inviting courtyard, and a small balcony - it was love at first sight. And surely, there's a comfortable futon for visitors....



And immediately, we discovered our favorite neighborhood haunts:

Koloves - an artsy restaurant & bar, with colorful art on the wall, delicious food, and friendly waiters with excellent taste in music.

a Jewish bakery beyond temptation (habitually closed, but dangerous when open) UPDATE, 9/5/06 - the bakery is dangerous indeed even when half-open, but not quite in the way I expected. One of the ladies working there went berserk at us this morning when we tried to inquire whether we can buy a few pastries to go before the cafe was officially open. The metal slider was half-open, and was slammed in our smiling faces as the woman was screaming IT'S CLOSED!!!!! Quite traumatizing, I think we'll need to find a new favorite place :(

Spinoza - cafe and restaurant with a warm salon atmosphere, a small theater in the back and regular concert series (plus, a friendly owner)

Noir et l'or - a French restaurant with peculiar service but excellent (and affordable!) food.

Needless to say in this city, all of the above (with the exception of the elusive bakery) have free wireless Internet....
