we've got riots - but we're fine

Yep, we've got Riots. But no need to worry - we're entirely fine. The riots are happening about 15 minutes walk from us, though by this our of the morning things appear to be peaceful + calm. Coincidentally it is at this very hour that the riots have become the headline story of the NYTimes.com website.

Last night, however, there was a lot of violence at the "MTV" building (that's Magyar Television, not your usual MTV.) Apparently the PM of Hungary (whom we saw just a week earlier at a book presentation, and thought to be a fine upstanding young man) lied through his teeth to the Hungarian people throughout his governance, all of which he mocks in a post-election tape from May.

And here is the view of the MTV Building a few days ago - it was one of the most idyllic places I've ever seen - gorgeous building, neat patches of flowers, children playing. It must look very different today.
